A video of senior citizens imitating characters in famous paintings（名画，míng huà） has gone viral on short-video platform（短视频平台，duǎn shì pín píng tái） Douyin（TikTok or 抖音）.

In the videos, the 10 seniors, who reside in the Shanghai Yangpu Community Nursing Home, dressed up and posed as characters in paintings such as Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Scream. A professional photographer（摄影师，shè yǐng shī） who was invited by the nursing home helped take the photos.

“We have seen a lot of interesting content（内容，nèi róng） on Douyin(TikTok), but it seems that it is little high-quality content related to the elderly（老年人，lǎo nián rén）,” said Qiao Yihao, director of the Yangpu Community Nursing Home.

“Since many of the elderly in our nursing home is very expressive（有表现力的，yǒu biǎo xiàn lì de） and creative, we hoped to showcase their life in the form of short videos and change stereotypes（刻板印象，kè bǎn yìn xiàng） of the elderly in nursing homes.”

Qiao added that many residents of the nursing home know how to use Douyin(TikTok) and have been recording videos of themselves dancing（跳舞，tiào wǔ） and singing（唱歌，chàng gē）.
