The importance of early rising

Just as Benjamin Franklin says, ” Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. ” It’s true that early rising benefits us in many ways.

First, it helps to keep us fit. We all need fresh air, but the air is never so fresh at other times of the day like that in the early morning. Besides, by taking morning exercises we can improve our health. Second, it can help us in our studies. In the morning we can learn more quickly. Third, it can enable us to plan our work for the day. We cannot work well without a proper plan. Early rising can also give us enough time to get ready for our work.

So we urge that those who always get up late should make a great effort to get up early.

The spring sports meet this year was held last Friday. Many students took an active part in it. So did I. The sports meet began at eight o’clock. After the opening, all kinds of races, both field-events and track-events, started one after another, I took part in the 1500-metre race. I felt a little nervous before the contest began because it was the first time that I had run at a school sports meet. My classmates stood around me, encouraging me, “Come on.
